Measures related to whistleblower protection:

  • Public Interest Disclosure (Protection of Whistleblowers) Act No. 4 of 2010
    •  The Act protects individuals who make good-faith disclosures about a wide range of crimes and misconduct, allowing them to report to various competent external authorities. Zambia’s law encourages people who observe or come across any acts adverse to the interest of the public or any unlawful acts or any acts contrary to applicable procedures to blow the whistle or report such acts by getting in touch with Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA) to preserve the public interest.
    • However, the Act, in its current form, does not include the protection of whistleblowers outside the employee-employer relationship.
